Three men aged 18, 23 and 26 have been arrested in connection with the kidnapping and murder of a foreign national whose body was found hidden near the R26 outside Fouriesburg.

An 18-year-old Grade 11 learner is among three people arrested after a foreign national who owned a tuckshop was allegedly kidnapped and murdered, before his body was dumped along the R26 outside Fouriesburg in the Free State.

The victim’s Toyota Hilux bakkie was allegedly stolen and later sold in Gauteng, while police seized 27 rounds of live ammunition from one of the suspects.

Free State police spokesperson Warrant Officer Mmako Mophiring said the three, aged 18, 23 and 26, were arrested within 12 hours of the discovery of the victim’s body on Wednesday.

Police were alerted at about 9am on Wednesday, after a local discovered a body near Uitkyk Farm, about 5km outside Fouriesburg.
