The protection of confidence in the economy, businesses, and small depositors are the basic responsibilities of the Hellenic Capital Market Commission, Finance Minister Kyriakos Pierrakakis said at an event on Wednesday.
Pierrakakis spoke at the Commission’s Anniversary Symposium 2026 on “Our history, our strategy, our new horizons.” He emphasized that the effective functioning of a reliable capital market is directly linked to the channeling of savings toward productive investments.
At the same time, in a Facebook post, the minister underlined that “politics, economy and society formulate a triangular relationship that remains functional only in a stable environment. We need a market that produces and a state that plans strategically, with clear-cut rules and a steady focus on growth.”
Pierrakakis also made particular reference to the inclusion of the Athens Stock Exchange on Euronext’s network, describing the development as an upgrade for Greece and its market.
