The government is “intervening and solving problems, not allowing them to fester, not letting injustices be perpetuated and distortions become entrenched,” Finance Minister Kyriakos Pierrakakis said in Parliament on Wednesday, during the debate on the draft bill that includes an amendment relating to Katseli Law loans.
“There are bills that deal with matters of day-to-day administration, and there are bills that embody a broader political vision of how the economy, the state and society itself should function. This bill belongs to the latter category because, behind its individual provisions, lies a coherent approach on the part of the government of Kyriakos Mitsotakis,” the minister said.
“Economic policy must be capable of resolving outstanding issues from the past. It must support those who are most in need in the present. It must create the conditions for more and better investment. And it must uphold the rule of law in the face of unlawful practices that undermine the economy, erode society and damage social cohesion. That is precisely what we are seeking to achieve today,” he added.
