Victor Osimhen will not feature in Galatasaray’s UEFA Champions League opener against Sporting CP on September 9, missing the biggest night on the club’s calendar so far this season. A right adductor strain with accompanying bleeding, sustained just days ago, has knocked the Nigerian striker out of the squad entirely.
What happened
The injury traces back to Galatasaray’s 3-2 Super Lig victory over Istanbul Basaksehir on September 4. Osimhen opened the scoring but was pulled off in the 33rd minute, well before halftime.
Galatasaray confirmed the diagnosis between September 6 and 8, revealing the adductor strain and estimated a recovery window of two to three weeks. Osimhen isn’t the only one dealing with muscle trouble either. Midfielder Mario Lemina sustained a similar injury and was also left off the Champions League squad.
