Johann Rupert, chairman of Richemont, says the appointment of his son Anton as co-deputy chairman marks an important step in the group’s long-term succession planning.
Billionaire Johann Rupert has taken a significant step towards securing the next generation’s role in his business empire, with his 39-year-old son Anton Rupert appointed as non-executive co-deputy chairman of luxury group Richemont.
The appointment was announced by Richemont on Wednesday, following a meeting of its board on September 8.
Anton will serve alongside Bram Schot, who has been the group’s non-executive deputy chairman since 2024. Johann Rupert, who chairs Richemont, described the appointment as “an important step” in the board’s long-term succession planning.
“This appointment is an important step in the Board's long-term succession planning. Richemont's strength has always rested on the continuity that comes from close family involvement, on rigorous governance, and on an unwavering commitment to creativity and craftsmanship," Rupert said.
