SACP Western Cape secretary Benson Ngqentsu
The SACP in the Western Cape has hit back at ANC Provincial Task Team member Vuyisa “JJ” Tyhalisisu after he described people wearing red colours as “the enemy” during a manifesto launch.
SACP provincial secretary Benson Ngqentsu said the statements by Tyhalisisu were unfortunate and revealed a disturbing political degeneration in understanding the character and historic mission of the ANC.
“For ‘JJ’ Tyhalisisu to describe communists as ‘the enemy of the ANC’ is not merely an unfortunate choice of words. It raises fundamental political questions about whether the ANC has abandoned its historic understanding of the alliance with the working class and the SACP or are there forces deliberately attempting to change the character of the ANC,” he said.
Ngqentsu made the comment after Tyhalisisu urged ANC members to defend the organisation during the launch of the manifesto in Khayelitsha at the weekend.
