KwaZulu-Natal DA leaders welcome former ANC councillors David Ngubane and Marco Mbambo, in blue golf shirts, following their defection to the party, despite the ANC eThekwini Region branding the pair as "rejects" and "traitors".
The ANC in the eThekwini Region notes the defection of two former ANC councillors to the Democratic Alliance. These two former councillors were recently rejected by their own communities in the candidate selection processes of the ANC.
Expelled former councillor Marco Mbambo failed to meet the threshold to contest the community meeting organised by the ANC as the community of ward 8 clearly rejected his continued leadership. The ANC together with the community, nominated new candidates.
Former councillor David Ngubane of ward 16 was also recently rejected by the community and desperately tried to cling on to power by appealing the processes but the community rejected him again in the rerun process.
Members of the community have clearly spoken about these 2 individuals. The hastily convened media briefing by the Democratic Alliance resulted from their desperate attempt to announce former councillor Ngubane before we could officially expel him, expel him.
