“The enemy attacked Zaporizhzhia with unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The shopping center was hit. There were no casualties,” Fedorov said.Local Telegram channels reported that the City Mall shopping center was heavily damaged and burned down in the strike.
According to Ukraine’s State Emergency Service (DSNS), six fires broke out at the shopping center, covering a total area of 700 square meters (7,500 square feet).All emergency services were deployed to the scene, with 40 rescuers and 10 pieces of equipment involved in clearing the aftermath.
The DSNS also reported fires and damage in two districts of the Odesa region following the overnight Russian attack.
In the Odesa district, two cars and dry grass caught fire, while fences, facades, and windows of two residential buildings were damaged. In the Izmail district, a residential building was damaged, while two cars and an outbuilding caught fire. All fires were quickly extinguished, according to the DSNS. As per the Air Force report, Russia launched an overnight attack beginning at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 6, using 92 Shahed attack drones, including jet-powered variants, as well as Gerbera and Parody-type decoy drones and S8000 Banderol drones.
