HyderabadTelangana Rakshana Sena chief K. Kavitha demanded that the State government book and arrest a police constable who made abusive and derogatory comments against her on social media, questioning the decision to merely suspend him.Addressing the media on Sunday, she said suspension was not sufficient and sought criminal action against the constable. She said that the State DGP should not be lenient against such people, and the provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Information Technology Act dealing with abusive and derogatory comments against women should be invoked.“If a woman like me, who has been in public life for 20 years and has served as an MP and MLC and headed a political party, does not have protection, what security can ordinary women expect?” she asked.The police chief should act immediately against the suspended constable, she said and warned that she would raise the issue on international platforms if no case was registered against him.She also demanded that the government introduce the proposed legislation to curb hate speech, as announced by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, in the Assembly sessions starting from September 7.Ms. Kavitha further alleged that Congress and BRS were engaging in political dramas in the Assembly instead of allowing public issues to receive adequate discussion.
