The cyber crimes wing of Cyberabad police arrested a man for posting an abusive and offensive comment on a social media platform against a former actress.
The accused, identified as Chennaiah Runjala, a resident of Guntur, was traced and taken into custody during an investigation into objectionable content posted online.
According to officials, the accused had watched a video featuring actress Renu Desai on YouTube and subsequently posted an abusive comment from his account. During verification, he produced the mobile phone used to post the content, which was seized as evidence.
The investigation was initiated following a complaint regarding the offensive post.
Meanwhile, the police advised social media users to be responsible online and refrain from posting abusive, defamatory or objectionable content, warning that such actions can invite legal consequences. Citizens have also been encouraged to report cyber offences through 1930 cyber helpline or at the nearest cybercrime police station.
