The Galiveedu police in Annamayya district rescued a woman and her two children who were reportedly attempting to end their lives on Saturday night at Veligallu dam, 65 km from here.The police said that they received information at around 7.15 p.m. on Saturday (September 5) from a man hailing from Talupula mandal in Sri Sathya Sai district. He reported that his wife had allegedly left home with their two children following a family dispute and was going to end their lives at Veligallu dam in Galiveedu mandal.Immediately after receiving the information, Sub-Inspector (SI) Narasimha Reddy, along with his team, rushed to Veligallu dam and found the woman reportedly moving along the bund with the children. The police team tactfully diverted their attention and rescued them safely.During the enquiry, the woman reportedly informed the police that she decided to take the extreme step due to misunderstandings with her husband. In the meantime, her family members reached Galiveedu at around midnight. Following a family counselling, the couple, along with their relatives, returned to their native place.Superintendent of Police (SP) Dheeraj Kunubilli appreciated Galiveedu SI and his team for their swift response to the incident.
