The low water level of the Danube continues to cause difficulties for shipping, with a loaded self-propelled vessel becoming stuck near Ruse, although authorities say there is currently no risk of pollution.
Water levels along the Bulgarian section of the river have shown only minimal changes over the past 24 hours, according to data from the Executive Agency for Exploration and Maintenance of the Danube River. The Silistra station recorded a 2-centimeter rise, while water levels at Novo Selo remained unchanged.
At the remaining monitoring stations, the level of the river fell slightly, by between 1 and 2 centimeters. Despite the limited fluctuations, the overall hydrological situation remains difficult.
According to information from the River Supervision Directorate, a loaded self-propelled vessel became stuck yesterday near an anchorage in the Ruse area. The vessel was outside the designated shipping channel when the incident occurred.
Authorities said the vessel does not pose a pollution threat. There have been no reports indicating a spill or other environmental damage resulting from the incident.
