In her upcoming documentary Always Lalisa, Lisa, whose full name is Lalisa Manobal, looks back on her younger years in the K-pop industry and the pressure she felt to maintain her image as an idol.
“In K-pop culture, we can't date,” Lisa says in the documentary, according to the Toronto Star. She recalled having a few relationships when she was younger but said she had to keep them secret.
Lisa explained that being caught by paparazzi while dating could lead to a drop in popularity, which made her especially cautious.
“I didn't want my dating to be the thing that hurts BLACKPINK's popularity,” she said.
