Justice Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi has warned that organised crime is infiltrating law enforcement agencies, saying the Madlanga Commission exposed officials allegedly working with criminals to weaken institutions.
Justice and Constitutional Development Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi has warned that organised crime is increasingly infiltrating law enforcement agencies, with criminals allegedly working with officials to weaken institutions responsible for fighting crime.
Speaking at the University of Johannesburg’s Combating Corruption Summit on Wednesday, Kubayi said the Madlanga Commission had exposed the growing influence of organised crime and syndicates within law enforcement.
“What the Madlanga Commission has exposed is the growing trend of organised crime and syndicate activity,” she said.
Kubayi said the commission had highlighted transnational drug trafficking, corruption and tender fraud within government, contract killings and violent syndicates, including the elimination of whistleblowers.
