Justice Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi has praised a senior department official for standing firm against questionable contracts, after a whistleblower alerted her to an alleged threat on the official’s life.

Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development Mmamoloko Kubayi has welcomed and expressed her appreciation to a whistleblower who approached her with information about an alleged intention to kill a senior official in her department who refused to sign questionable contracts.

The department said this in a media release on Saturday.

Kubayi’s spokesperson, Palesa Rammitlwa, said that upon receiving the information, Kubayi immediately contacted law enforcement agencies to investigate and protect the official concerned.

“The minister’s word of appreciation also goes to law enforcement agencies for acting swiftly in assessing the threat and putting mechanisms in place to protect the official and her family.”
