Tensions between Russia and Germany have been pulled into sharp focus over Berlin’s direct accusation that Kremlin spooks planted a bomb drone in Leipzig airport.

The explosive craft was found last month in the east German facility at Leipzig/ Halle airport, stationed next to Ukrainian cargo planes where most of Kyiv’s cargo passes through. Germany is a major hub for NATO transportation into Ukraine and has for some time been the target of Kremlin espionage, drone incursions and prodding of NATO resolve.

It is also a base for Ukraine's Antonov Airlines - which carries most of the country's badly-needed aerial cargo to help Kyiv’s war effort. Although the bomb was successfully dismantled the latest accusation of Kremlin covert meddling in Germany has focussed attention on Moscow - Berlin tension. Practically, much of the Kremlin’s aggressive actions have been thwarted, such as the so-called bomb plot- but Putin’s Kremlin have typically denied it, claiming a German set-up.
