CPUT says its finances are properly audited after student leaders submitted allegations to the SIU.
The Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) has hit back at allegations taken to the Special Investigating Unit (SIU) by student leaders, saying it can account for its spending and that previous investigations into accusations of financial wrongdoing found no merit.
The Central Student Representative Council (CSRC) handed over a memorandum to the SIU, along with what it described as supporting documents, raising concerns about financial integrity and administration at the university.
The student leadership said the documents were intended to support concerns it claimed to have been raised over several years.
According to the CSRC, the SIU undertook to respond to the memorandum within two weeks.
