Kanniyakumari District Collector M. Prathap inaugurated the induction programme for Bachelor of Engineering (BE) and Master of Engineering (ME) students at University College of Engineering in Konam on Wednesday.Addressing the students, he said that every year about one lakh students graduate from engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu. He urged the students to be good creators and innovators by the time they complete their four-year course. Citing the example of countries such as Germany, where new heavy vehicles have been developed, he encouraged the students to undertake similar innovative efforts. He said that the four years of their college education would play a crucial role in shaping the next 50 years of their lives.He added that students and graduates from various parts of the State have joined University College of Engineering in Konam and urged the students to fulfil the dreams of their parents.Following this, Mr. Prathap distributed merit certificates to students studying in the college.V.
