Lhuan-dre Pretorius has played 22 matches across formats for his country. In that period, he has managed just one international century — a marvellous 153 on Test debut last year.
But for a youngster who has already struck 11 centuries in just over two years on the professional circuit, and was accustomed to churning out tons almost every other weekend at school level, he knows the currency of three figures.
So, just how did he feel at Namibia Cricket Ground in Windhoek on Tuesday, when he fell just one mighty blow short of a maiden T20I century?
“Ag, it’s fine. I was a bit gutted because we said after 14 overs we wanted to get to 200. I knew that if we got to 200 I would get to the milestone,” Pretorius said after the Proteas’ 43-run victory over their northern neighbours, Zimbabwe.
