Pape Matar Sarr touched down in Turin on August 31 to complete his transfer from Tottenham Hotspur to Juventus, ending weeks of speculation about the 23-year-old midfielder’s future. The deal, structured as a paid loan with an obligation to buy, carries a total package valued at €30 million.
For Spurs, it’s a tidy return on a player they signed from Metz back in August 2021 for roughly €16.9 million.
How the deal came together
Juventus will pay an initial loan fee estimated between €2 million and €3 million, with the remainder of the €30 million package converting into a permanent purchase obligation under specific conditions.
Those conditions are worth noting: the buy clause activates if Juventus qualifies for the Champions League or Europa League and Sarr features in at least 50% of their matches.
