Police in the southern Peloponnese have arrested a 60-year-old man for the second time in a matter of days on suspicion of serial arson.

The man was first arrested in Messinia on Thursday on two arson charges, to which he reportedly confessed.

After being released on bail by a prosecutor in Kalamata, he allegedly started two more fires on Sunday afternoon. According to police, he used an open flame to ignite dry grass, starting another blaze.

New charges have been brought against the suspect, who is due to appear before the Kalamata prosecutor again on Tuesday.
