A 47-year-old man was murdered following a quarrel with another man at Mullal village in Kallakudi police station limits in Tiruchi district on Monday. Police gave the name of the deceased as P. Abi Mannan of Mullal village. The Kallakudi police have arrested the accused R. Jagan, 30, of the same village on the charge of committing the crime. Police sources said Abi Mannan’s son Abi Nisan, 22, and his friends were consuming liquor at Mullal bus stop on Sunday night. Abi Nisan is said to have pushed down the motorcycle of Jagan parked nearby leading to a quarrel between them. The two dispersed following the intervention of the villagers who pacified them.As a result of the Sunday incident, Jagan, armed with a knife, came to the house of Abi Mannan on Monday morning where a quarrel broke out between them. In a fit of rage, Jagan allegedly stabbed Abi Mannan besides attacking his son causing injuries to both. Abi Mannan died of stab wounds while undergoing treatment at the Lalgudi Government Hospital.
