Veeravanallur police have arrested three individuals in connection with a murder of a 40-year-old SC man on Thursday (July 2), near Vallathu Natham in Tirunelveli district.The deceased was identified as Kalimuthu from Moolachi village under Kallidaikurichi police jurisdiction. While Kalimuthu was travelling with his two children K. Jeyaraj, 5, and K. Chinnathurai, 15, near Vallathu Natham, was intercepted by an armed gang travelling in a car. The car rammed into the vehicle, leading to Jeyaraj’s death on the spot. The gang then hacked Kalimuthu with sharp weapons and severed his head.Chinnathurai sustained fracture injuries in the incident and was admitted to Tirunelveli Government Medical College Hospital. Based on the complaint lodged by Chinnathurai, a case was registered at Veeravanallur police station and investigation was launched.Around five special teams were also deployed to nab the accused.On Saturday, the police arrested three men involved in the crime. They were identified as Mahenthiran alias Mahesh, 29, Kumar alias Kokki Kumar, 23 from Moolachi village and Muthuselvan, 29 from Oorkadu. All three belong to SC community.Efforts are currently under way to trace and arrest the remaining accused connected with the case. Further investigations are under way.
