In all probability, the future of industrialised Tiruppur will be in right hands.This promising premise sprung from a tete-a-tete a large group of school students in Tiruppur had with District Collector Manish Narnaware on Saturday (August 29, 2026).About 170 students had their attention affixed to the ‘Coffee with Collector’ interactive session organised at the Collectorate by the Rotary Club of Tiruppur South under the aegis of ‘The Hindu In School’.The session witnessed the young minds discussing the core issues the administration has been grappling with with clarity of purposeSpanning about two hours, students articulated with elan matters pertaining to solid waste management, pollution of River Noyyal, ground water depletion, techno-textiles, rainwater harvesting, women’s safety, drug culture and so on, and sought solutions.Resonating on an even keel, the Collector, while answering on each issue, kept emphasising on the joint responsibility of the people as a society, right from the levels of individual and family, for setting things right.Students also made the most of the session by getting to know, from the Collector, the way forward in their career pursuits, civil service in particular.The Collector sought to drive home the point that while it is good to set a goal and work towards it heart and soul, it is as much important to contemplate on alternative career recourses.Flanked by R. Mohanraj, president of Rotary Club of Tiruppur South, and Secretary M. Malathi Muthurathinam, the Collector, at the outset, walked the students through the broad functions of the legislative, the executive and the judiciary.The key takeaways for the students were remaining curious learners all through for developing broad perspectives, creating a balance of mind through meditation and breathing exercises for smoother navigation through tough situations, imbibing passion for positive aspects of life as an antidote to harmful addictions.The students also took home a book authored by late President A.P.J.
