SAN FERNANDO CITY, Pampanga — Pampanga Gov. Lilia Pineda on Friday ordered mayors across the province to carry out preemptive and forced evacuations in high-risk upland and coastal barangays and other vulnerable areas as heavy monsoon rains triggered renewed flooding.

In Memorandum No. 2026-66 of the Pampanga Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC), which she chairs, Pineda said the measures were necessary to “ensure the safety of communities and prevent untoward incidents.”

She also directed disaster response teams in the province’s 18 towns and three cities to remain on standby and ensure that evacuation centers and other resources were ready for affected residents.
