The SIU is investigating a R150 million tender for the maintenance of a 28km section of Road P152/1 between Setlagole and Delareyville in the North West.
The Special Investigating Unit (SIU) has launched an investigation into a R150 million road maintenance tender awarded by the North West Department of Public Works and Roads after President Cyril Ramaphosa signed a proclamation authorising a probe into allegations of corruption, maladministration and the unlawful loss of public funds.
The investigation stems from Proclamation 340 of 2026 and centres on Bid Number PWR 89/13 for the special maintenance of Road P152/1 between Setlagole and P34/4 in Delareyville.
The contract, which relates to Phase II of the project covering 28km of road, was valued at R150,466,494.68.
SIU spokesperson Selby Makgotho said the investigation would focus on allegations of “serious maladministration, corruption, irregular expenditure, and unlawful or improper loss of public funds” at the provincial department.
