The 90th Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF), which opens its doors on September 5, marks a historic milestone, as it celebrates 100 years since the first fair was held in 1926. With more than 1,000 exhibitors from Greece and abroad, TIF is celebrating a century of history while also signaling the start of a new era.This year’s fair is placing a strong emphasis on its commercial and business profile, creating an environment conducive to partnerships, networking and promotion.Japan: Honored Country at the 90th TIFThe fair’s international outlook will be highlighted by Japan’s participation as the Honored Country. At Pavilion 13, visitors will be introduced to Japanese culture through the philosophy of “TAKUMI.” The concept represents the “craftsman” and a longstanding commitment to perfection, craftsmanship, precision and human-centered design.The Japanese pavilion will feature major Japanese industrial companies from the technology, innovation and automotive sectors. Visitors will also have the opportunity to experience Asian cuisine, Japanese calligraphy, Taiko performances, cosplay and a special tribute to pop culture. As part of the Honored Country’s programme of parallel events, each day of TIF week will focus on a different theme, highlighting areas of common interest and potential cooperation between Japan and Greece through lectures, discussions and workshops.A central feature of this year’s centennial celebrations is the specially curated exhibition “TIF 100 YEARS OF FUTURE,” jointly organized by TIF-HELEXPO and MOMus – Museum of Contemporary Art. Through a contemporary museological and exhibition-design approach, the exhibition will highlight TIF’s longstanding connection with innovation, technological progress and the major changes that have shaped each era. The exhibition goes beyond a historical retrospective, instead turning its focus toward the future.This year’s fair also introduces a new thematic section focusing on economic governance, tax compliance, transparency and business development. At the same time, support for domestic entrepreneurship will be reinforced through the participation of 41 Chambers of Commerce and 320 businesses under the auspices of the Union of Hellenic Chambers.B2B meetings will be further strengthened through the Matchmaking Event, organized in cooperation with the Federation of Industries of Greece and the Enterprise Europe Network. The energy sector will also have a particularly strong presence at this year’s fair, with numerous participants.Focus on innovation, research and technologyPavilion 17 will serve as a unified hub for Education, Technology, Research and Innovation.Every evening, the fair will host Music Events Live concerts under TIF’s iconic Arch, featuring popular artists. Families will also be able to enjoy the interactive JuniorLand park, while municipal philharmonic bands from across Greece will fill TIF’s outdoor spaces with music.Among this year’s new additions is the Wellness & Fitness Arena at Pavilion 16, a new thematic showcase dedicated to fitness, health, nutrition, sports and wellness, featuring an experiential format and continuous activities throughout all nine days of the fair.The 90th TIF is where history meets the future.
