Stablecoin issuer Circle (CRCL) has struck a sponsorship deal with Premier League soccer giant Chelsea to become its principal partner and official front-of-shirt sponsor.

Announced Friday, the deal sees Circle and USDC branding on men's, women's, and academy shirts beginning with the 2026/27 season.

The announcement comes as stablecoin adoption accelerates globally, dominated by U.S. dollar-pegged assets. Total U.S. dollar stablecoin supply currently stands at $292.2 billion, according to The Block's data dashboard. Tether's USDT accounts for $183.3 billion (62.7%) of that figure, and Circle's (USDC) accounts for $73.9 billion (25.3%), adding $1 billion over the past week.

USDC is positioned to operate under the GENIUS Act framework that President Donald Trump signed into law last year. Tether's USDT primarily operates outside of that framework globally, with its smaller USAT stablecoin launched specifically for the U.S. market.
