The city’s public transport operator says the cameras will provide evidence in disputes and improve safety for passengers and inspectors.
Ticket inspectors on Bratislava public transport have begun wearing body cameras during ticket checks.
The measure took effect on 26 August, according to the city’s public transport operator DPB. It says the cameras are intended to prevent misunderstandings and provide objective evidence when disputes arise between passengers and inspectors.
The recordings can also be used when investigating complaints, avoiding situations in which officials have only conflicting accounts of what happened.
DPB says recordings will be stored on encrypted servers and accessed only by authorised staff when dealing with an official complaint.
