Collector S. Kandasamy handed over education loan assistance totalling ₹12.84 crore to 110 students at a special education loan camp organised at the Collectorate recently.Speaking at the camp, Mr. Kandasamy said education loans should be viewed as an investment for the future and banks should extend loans to eligible students without hesitation.He said the district administration was creating awareness among college students about education loans and helping them apply through the PM Vidya Laxmi portal. Special camps were also being organised to ensure that financial constraints did not prevent students from pursuing higher education. Students who had availed themselves of education loans should help others understand the procedure for obtaining such assistance, he said, and urged the beneficiaries to make effective use of the loans to build their careers.The loans were sanctioned to students who had applied through various banks. Information kiosks set up by various public and private sector banks provided details on the education loan application process and related schemes.
