Canara Bank on Wednesday (August 12, 2026) distributed educational scholarships totalling ₹12.48 lakh to 312 girl students in the district under its ‘Canara Vidya Jyothi’ scheme.District Revenue Officer S. Santha Kumar distributed the scholarship sanction orders and certificates to the students at the Collectorate. Under the scheme, girl students from the Most Backward Classes studying in Classes V to X in 52 government schools in the district were selected through Canara Bank’s 52 branches. Students in Classes V to VII received ₹3,000 each, while those in Classes VIII to X received ₹5,000 each. The scheme aimed at encouraging girl students to continue their education.Assistant District Education Officer Amudha, Canara Bank Erode Regional Deputy General Manager Saravanan, NABARD Assistant General Manager Ashok Kumar, Lead District Manager Vivekanand, bank branch managers, teachers, parents and officials were present.
