The New Apostolic Church, South Africa, says it is waiting for the results of an investigation into what caused the fire that destroyed its Towerby church in Johannesburg, after Holy Communion chalices and Bibles “miraculously” survived the blaze this week.

Nothing else could be salvaged from the blaze.

The church caught fire on Tuesday, August 25. No injuries were reported, and it is not yet clear how the fire started.

New Apostolic Church, South Africa, spokesperson Bradley Bourne told IOL an investigation is currently under way to determine the cause of the fire.
