Two New Apostolic Church congregants hold communion chalices and Bibles that remained undamaged after a fire destroyed the church’s Towerby building in Johannesburg South District on Tuesday.

The New Apostolic Church Towerby in Johannesburg South District is hailing a miracle after holy communion chalices and bibles were all left untouched when the church burned down this week.

Nothing else could be salvaged from the blaze. The church caught fire on Tuesday, August 25. No injuries were reported and it is not clear yet how the fire started.

“It is with a heavy heart that we have to inform you of our Towerby church building that was unfortunately completely destroyed this afternoon due to a fire," the church said in a statement.

“The building is condemned and cannot be used in its current state.
