Mahdi Saadvandi, a faculty member at Isfahan University of Art, has been arrested following a raid on his home by security forces. To date, no information has been released regarding his whereabouts, physical condition, or potential charges.
The Telegram channel United Students reported that security personnel entered the professor’s residence on Tuesday, August 25, and placed him under arrest.
The report provided no details regarding the arresting agency, the manner in which agents entered the residence, or Saadvandi’s subsequent transfer. Neither judicial and security authorities of the Islamic Republic nor officials at Isfahan University of Art have offered any explanation regarding his detention.
Mahdi Saadvandi holds a Ph.D. in Architecture from Shahid Beheshti University and has served as a faculty member in the Department of Architecture at Isfahan University of Art since 2009.
The arrest of this academic comes amid escalating security and disciplinary pressure targeting university faculty and students. In recent days, Mahmoud Mokhtari, an assistant professor at the Research Institute for Fundamental Studies of Science and Technology at Shahid Beheshti University, was suspended from teaching and had his classes canceled following his protests against the January crackdown.
