District Collector Anand Mohan has appealed to the women to utilise the services of ‘One Stop Centre’ by getting proper counselling and legal assistance from the experts to win over their personal and professional problems.Speaking at the mass contact event organised at Seevalaperi near Palayamkottai on Tuesday, Mr. Anand Mohan said the State Government has introduced ‘Singappenn Elite Wing’ for helping the distressed women, who can call ‘181’ or ‘1091’ for any assistance.Moreover, the district administration has created ‘One Stop Centre’ for giving due counselling and legal assistance to victimised women. Hence, women, in case of any personal or professional troubles, should contact the ‘One Stop Centre’ if they cannot get any assistance or guidance from their family or relatives.The Collector also appealed to the villagers to strictly avoid child marriages, a crime, that would certainly land all concerned in deep trouble.“If you have any information about child marriages, please call ‘1098’ to register your complaint or information, which will be kept secret. The children, particularly the girl children, should be encouraged to get at least a degree of their choice through a recognised educational institution. Since various industrial houses are investing in Tirunelveli district by establishing their manufacturing units here, the educated, particularly the educationally qualified women, are getting the right job with decent package near your village. The technically qualified candidates with diplomas from polytechnics or ITI trades are easily getting jobs in these upcoming units with decent salary. Hence, the girls should be encouraged to acquire better educational qualifications after Plus Two,” Mr. Anand Mohan appealed.Mr. Anand Mohan informed that paddy raised on only 770 acres during the ‘kar’ season had been insured even though the farmers were requested repeatedly to pay the insurance premium before the deadline due to the adverse impacts of Super El-Nino this year to insure their crops.“As we anticipate heavy downpour during the upcoming northeast monsoon, the agriculturists should insure their crops by paying the prescribed premium before the deadline so that they can get the insurance benefits in case of crop loss,” he said.The Collector also told the farmers to link their Aadhaar card with the Kisan identity cards for seamlessly getting the welfare assistances.The Collector handed over ₹11.31 lakh-worth welfare assistance to 76 beneficiaries and inaugurated an exhibition that explained in detail the welfare schemes being extended by various departments of the State and the Central Governments.He honoured the SSLC and Plus Two toppers from Seevalaperi with books and handed over ₹1 lakh-worth play equipment to school students.Of the 175 petitions received during this camp, 97 petitions were accepted on-the-spot after scrutiny.District Revenue Officer Vidhya, Revenue Divisional Officer, Tirunelveli, M.
