Cape Town Opera (CTO), a cornerstone of South African performing arts, has officially unveiled plans for a highly anticipated European tour in September 2026.
The company will present George Gershwin’s operatic masterpiece, Porgy and Bess, in a landmark shared-stage production that promises to highlight the breadth of South African vocal excellence on the international stage.
Directed by Magdalene Minnaar, the production features a historic collaboration with London’s Chineke! Orchestra, Europe’s first majority Black and ethnically diverse professional orchestra.
This partnership represents a significant cultural bridge, uniting exceptional artists from across several countries under the baton of conductor Maestro Enrique Mazzola.
