A scene from Cape Town Opera's 'Carmen.'
The Cape Town Opera is bringing one of the world’s most beloved productions to the Mother City this week.
In this play, Bizet’s “Carmen” will be under the direction of Steven Stead with a set design by Greg King.
In addition conductor Tim Murray will also be at the helm of the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra, leading an ensemble of singers, dancers and orchestra.
Set against the turbulent backdrop of the Spanish Civil War, it takes place from 1936–1939 and features themes of power, desire and defiance.
