Parliament's Portfolio Committee on Agriculture has elected Nomasonto Motaung chairperson.
She succeeds acting chairperson Dr Nobuhle Nkabane, who, in turn, replaced the former chairperson Dina Pule when she was appointed Social Development Minister on June 30.
Motaung is a member of Parliament representing the ANC and a former Deputy Minister in the Presidency.
Her Parliamentary and executive experience includes constituency work, committee oversight and policy evaluation.
Commenting on her new role, Motaung says agriculture is a critical vehicle to food security, economic growth, job creation and development of rural communities.
