Newly-appointed Western Cape Education MEC Jaco Londt.
Western Cape Premier Alan Winde on Thursday made two appointments to his Cabinet after former Education MEC David Maynier recently took up the position as the Forestry, Fisheries and Environment Minister.
Winde announced the new Education MEC as Jaco Londt, who left his former social development portfolio to Wendy Kaizer-Philander, who is the former Western Cape legislature social development standing committee chairperson.
He heaped praise on Londt’s successes in the Social Development Department, saying he will bring the same drive and energy to the education portfolio while Kaizer-Philander knew the new portfolio very well and was ready to build on the work already done there.
“Both ministers bring proven experience and commitment to the residents of the Western Cape. I have full faith in them to help us create more opportunities across our province,” Winde said.
