Members of a special environmental protection squad have arrested a man in Piraeus accused of dumping solid waste within the city limits, police said Tuesday.

A police statement said the 41-year-old suspect was spotted by squad members early Monday driving his car through the Korydallos district of Piraeus. Officers who followed him allegedly caught him in the act of dumping several bags full of solid waste.

He was taken into custody and faces charges of breaching environmental protection laws.
