Two people have been arrested in Athens for allegedly dumping waste in the capital’s run-down Votanikos area, authorities said Wednesday.
A police statement said the suspects were spotted Tuesday driving a vehicle loaded with rubble from demolitions in Votanikos, and were taken into custody after emptying the waste by the roadside.
The arrests were made by a special police unit dealing with illegal waste disposal, that has carried out a string of past arrests for similar offenses in the Votanikos area.
