Bulgarian Defense Minister Dimitar Stoyanov

Iran has carried out what Bulgarian Defense Minister Dimitar Stoyanov described as a “very good hybrid operation,” which he said was unfortunately supported by Bulgarian politicians. Stoyanov warned that the operation would continue, but declined to provide details of the intelligence information behind his assessment, saying it could not be made public.

“What I would like to share is that Iran conducted a very good hybrid operation, unfortunately assisted by Bulgarian politicians. We see the result. This hybrid operation will continue,” Stoyanov said before a meeting of Parliament's Defense Committee.

Asked whether he was concerned that Tehran had not changed its position toward Bulgaria despite the departure of the American aircraft stationed at the Bezmer airbase, the defense minister said Bulgarian politicians should exercise greater responsibility when commenting on statements coming from Iran.

“A hybrid operation, supported by opposition Bulgarian politicians. On the contrary, this should be viewed much more seriously and there should be much greater responsibility among Bulgarian politicians when they comment irresponsibly on such positions from the Iranian side,” he said.
