ANC president Cyril Ramaphosa addresses supporters at the party’s local government elections manifesto launch at Riverside Park near Diepsloot in Johannesburg on Sunday.
ANC president Cyril Ramaphosa said the work of ANC mayors and councillors would begin as soon as they took office.
He said representatives would have 100 days to show real progress in tackling the most pressing issues in their municipalities.
“Our representatives will develop a localised manifesto for every council, addressing the specific strengths and challenges of each community,” he said.
This was announced as the party’s manifesto ahead of the 4 November local government elections was unveiled on Sunday. He acknowledged the party’s failures and warned that mayors and councillors who fail to perform will be removed.
