Kayla Jenecker will take on a three-day run to 42 schools as part of 42 Unbreakable’s anti-bullying campaign.
A nine-year battle against bullying has inspired Mitchells Plain siblings Celita and Kayla Jenecker to take their anti-bullying message to schools across the Western Cape through their organisation, 42 Unbreakable.
Celita, the founder and CEO of the non-profit, was bullied by 42 pupils in her class for three years. Kayla, 29, of Morgan’s Village, said the bullying started with one pupil, who influenced others to verbally target her sister.
“It was a battle for my mother,” Kayla said, recalling how their mother repeatedly met with the principal and contacted the school.
The bullying nearly became physical and affected Celita’s academics. She had been an A-grade pupil, but their mother eventually removed her from the school. Celita later completed her studies at college.
