FOUR SISTERS ONE JOURNEY.
Inside a relatively quiet Vida e Caffè in Rondebosch East, past 8pm, sat Rushda Booley, 30, and her sister Thaakirah, 28, are busy finalising a transnational initiative that trades digital visibility for personal consequence.
From September 7 to September 10, 2026, the Cape Town-based sisters will fly to Morocco to summit Mount Toubkal, the highest peak in North Africa.
Together, the siblings form the core of Team Toubkal, joining a group of women for a gruelling 4,167 metre ascent above sea level to fundraise for displaced orphans in Gaza through the UK-based charity Human Appeal.
The motivation driving the Booley sisters to climb Mount Toubkal extends far beyond standard athletics or temporary adventure. By opting for a demanding physical test rather than a passive online appeal, the siblings are deliberately changing the nature of modern solidarity.
