SAN ANTONIO, Zambales — The local government of Masinloc has suspended classes in all levels in both public and private schools on Monday due to inclement weather brought by the enhanced southwest monsoon or habagat.

Mayor Hazel Lim announced the suspension Sunday, citing the safety of students, teachers and non-teaching personnel amid moderate to heavy rain showers, lightning and strong winds in the town.

The local government warned that the prevailing weather could trigger flooding and landslides and urged residents to avoid unnecessary travel.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the southwest monsoon continues to affect Luzon.
