A 70-year-old woman was allegedly attacked with a sharp weapon and robbed of gold jewellery worth around ₹90,000 at a farm near Gorevasti in Wagholi on Thursday evening, police said on Saturday.Wagholi police have filed a case under Section 309(6) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). (REPRESENTATIVE PHOTO)The victim, Suman Dattatray Gore of Gorevasti, is undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit of a private hospital in Yerawada.According to a complaint filed by her son, Deepak Gore, Suman regularly visited the family’s farm to graze cattle. Around 6.15 pm on August 20, Deepak received a call informing him that an elderly woman had been found unconscious at a farm near Rohan Builders in Wagholi.He rushed to the spot with relatives and found his mother injured. Police said she had sustained multiple injuries to her head, face, ears, hands and elbows, apparently after being attacked with a sharp weapon.Deepak told police that a gold mangalsutra weighing around four grams and two gold earrings weighing around six grams had been forcibly removed. The woman was initially taken to a hospital in Wagholi and later shifted to Sahyadri Hospital in Yerawada and is not in a condition to record her statement, police said.Police suspect she was attacked during an attempt to rob her jewellery. The unidentified attacker is believed to have fled after leaving her seriously injured.Wagholi police have filed a case under Section 309(6) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
