A 54-year-old woman, who was on her evening walk, was robbed of her gold chain after being threatened at knifepoint near Machohalli forest on Monday.

According to the police, the victim, Nirmala, a resident of Machohalli, was out for her routine evening walk at a park near the forest around 4.30 p.m. At 5 p.m., the accused confronted her, threatened her with a knife and punched her in the face, causing her to fall to the ground.

The accused then snatched a 32-gm gold chain she was wearing and fled the spot. The gold chain was valued at approximately ₹3.5 lakh, the FIR stated.

She cried for help but there was no one around and the accused managed to escape.

After the incident, she informed her husband, following which the couple approached the Madanayakanahalli police station and lodged a complaint.
