A medical camp for women police' personnel under way at AR police grounds in Madurai on Saturday.

Madurai City Police, in collaboration with Guru Hospitals and Magizhchi – M.S. Chellamuthu Trust and Research Foundation, organised a special medical camp for women police personnel here on Saturday.The medical camp was inaugurated by M. P. Dhivya, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Headquarters), and J. B. Prabhakar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Armed Reserve).S. G. Balamurugan, chairman, Guru Hospitals, explained the symptoms of cancer, importance of early detection, significance of regular medical examination, and need for women to continuously pay attention to their health.He also expressed his willingness to conduct similar medical camps on a regular basis. In addition, training on CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and life-saving techniques was proposed.Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Dhivya said special medical facilities, medical camps and welfare programmes were being continuously organised, especially for police personnel. Steps would be taken to conduct such special medical camps for women police personnel.Since police personnel worked tirelessly for society and public safety, it was equally important to provide them with necessary care and support for their wellbeing, she added.Senior psychiatrist and State Coordination Officer C. Ramasubramanian highlighted the workload, occupational stress and psychological challenges faced by women police personnel in their profession.He explained the importance of effectively managing work-related stress, maintaining good mental health, and seeking professional mental health counselling whenever necessary.He further explained the various initiatives undertaken through the Magizhchi Programme to promote the physical and mental wellbeing of women police personnel including counselling and support services.Dr. Ramasubramanian encouraged women police personnel to make full use of the services provided and to take care of their physical and mental health.The special medical camp provided various medical examinations and consultations including ECG, ECHO, mammography, ultrasound, general health check-up, ENT check-up, dental check-up, eye check-up and psychiatrist consultation.A total of 120 women police personnel participated in the camp and benefited from medical examinations and consultations.
