The family of a 39-year-old man who was declared brain-dead at a private hospital in Coimbatore has donated his organs, giving six people a chance at a new lease of life.Karthik, a resident of Avinashi Road in Coimbatore, was injured in an accident near Chinniyampalayam around 11.30 p.m. on August 17. He was admitted to Kovai Medical Center and Hospital (KMCH) on Avinashi Road for treatment but did not respond to treatment and was declared brain-dead on Saturday (August 21, 2026).His father Arunachalam, mother Rajalakshmi and sister Jagatheswari consented to donate his organs.Doctors at KMCH harvested his liver, kidneys, eyes, skin and bone in accordance with the regulations of the Tamil Nadu Transplant Authority. The liver and kidneys were transplanted at KMCH, while the eyes, skin and bone were sent to a private hospital in Coimbatore for transplantation and related medical use.KMCH chairman Dr. Nalla G.
